Kat and Bly were amongst the masterpieces at the Minneapolis Institute of Art during their wedding day. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and conversations. Kat started the day with her girls, and Bly was with the guys. As I entered each getting-ready room, I remember everyone laughing. I could tell it was going to be a joyful day!
Kat and Bly are both artists and they had their ceremony in the Target courtyard. Not only is the Minneapolis Institute of Art a special place for them both but so is MCAD (Minneapolis College of Art and Design). MCAD is just on the other side of the Target courtyard. Bly has had some of his own masterpiece drawings on display at the MIA, and Kat and Bly together had their first date during a drawing class at MCAD.
You could tell that friends and family are very important to Kat & Bly. They surround themselves with a rich and inspiring community that helped make this day special. One of my favorite details from the day was seeing how all their guests hand-picked prints to take home as wedding gifts. These are prints that Bly and his brother, Rowan, Pope Brothers Art, drew themselves. It was a special gesture to the important people in their lives, a unique piece of art that everyone was able to take home in cherish.
Another special moment was watching the guests wander through the galleries at night. The Minneapolis Institute of Art opens a wing of galleries for the bride and groom and their guests to walk through. It is the perfect opportunity to slow down, take a step back, and soak in the details from the night. We had so much fun stepping away and taking photos in these galleries. It’s as if every sculpture and painting is looking back at you when you book the museum for a private event. You become engraved as part of the museum’s story that you will always be able to reminisce.
This day would not be possible without these vendors:
