It was an honor to photograph Liz and Greg’s Copenhagen elopement with their closest family members who traveled from Oklahoma and Australia! Their wedding day was filled with European charm, beautiful skies, and dreamy cityscapes.
Liz and Greg reside in Berlin, and I met Liz while I was living there too. We shared the same online job and connected through a Facebook post. I remember thinking how kind, unique, and intelligent Liz was from the very start! She helped me navigate the German system and we always talked about the excitements and frustrations of life as expats. We shared our goals and dreams as we explored the city of Berlin together from late nights to shopping days in Mitte. I considered Liz my Berlin sister!
Ever since my early days in Berlin, Liz and I have kept in touch. She met Greg a few months after I left Berlin to move back to the States. As Liz was getting to know Greg, she went back home to Oklahoma for Christmas, and she and Greg continued to talk online. Liz was excited to go back to Berlin to see Greg again, but she had to extend her stay due to Covid. During this time, Greg and Liz talked endlessly and got to know each other.
My first time meeting Greg was during their wedding in Copenhagen. Greg is such a fun, kind, and adventurous person; a perfect match for my dear friend, Liz. These two let their personalities shine during their Copenhagen elopement, and it was a true privilege to be there capturing and witnessing their day.
I started the day with getting ready portraits at Greg’s Airbnb and in Liz’s bridal suite at Scandic Palace Hotel. From there, Liz and Greg shared an intimate ceremony at Frederiksberg Gardens in front of the most beautiful blooming flowers and canal. They had a second ceremony at the Copenhagen City Hall in a historic room surrounded by murals. This is also where Liz and Greg received their marriage certificate in five languages (Danish, English, French, German, and Spanish). Then we ended the night at Restaurant Maven with a Nordic five-course dinner.
Liz, Greg, and I explored the city to take some fun portraits between ceremonies. We started at Nyhavn and took some photos in front of the iconic colorful buildings of Copenhagen. I’m pretty sure I almost got hit at least five times by a bicycle to get the perfect shot! We also explored the intimate streets of Copenhagen as we made our way to Restaurant Maven.
From accessories to locations, Liz and Greg shared their unique love story through the charm of Copenhagen. Two hearts coming together from two different worlds and now hold a wedding certificate in five languages. Liz and Greg let their creativity, adventurous spirits, and their love for their families become the focal point of this special day. They even dove right in the next morning with a big splash into the Copenhagen Harbour Bath to start their new chapter together!
