Minneapolis Sculpture Garden // Engagement Session

Bly & Kat:

I’m convinced that the Spoonbridge and Cherry is the heart of the city and can be found at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden! It’s where all tourists visit when they come to the Twin Cities and it’s the place where locals walk around when they are looking for inspiration. It was the perfect spot for Kat and Bly’s engagement session! Kat and Bly are a fun, loving, and creative couple—and it’s only fitting that art and sculpture will influence this season of their life as fiancés and then as newlyweds.

I loved hearing Kat and Bly’s story of how they met! Their first date was something special that represented them well as individuals. Kat is a graphic designer and Bly is a professional artist; the two of them had their first date at the Minneapolis College of Design (MCAD) during a Sunday figure drawing class. I enjoyed hearing how these two were intentional and thoughtful as soon as they planned their first date, even before they knew each other.

This intentionality speaks not only to their relationship but to who these two are as people. They have crafted their love story around art, everything from their first date to their engagement session at the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden, and their wedding day at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Not to mention, that they are the sweetest, most genuine, and most positive people to be around! Kat and Bly are some of the kindest people who have made me feel like part of the family as their wedding photographer. They have been excited to be involved in the creative process of photography too–everything from picking out their outfits to picking out their locations, to even being some of the most joyful models in front of the camera!

I can only imagine that everyone on their wedding day, from guests to vendors, will feel the love that these two pour into the world. They inspire you with their joyful words and outlook on life. I am very honored to be able to tell their story and am looking forward to sharing their beautiful summer wedding at the Minneapolis Institute of Art!
