Have you ever stopped and looked at Van Gogh’s Starry Night in detail? Have you ever taken a moment to notice how each brush stroke hugs one another? Have you ever observed how the boldness of each brushstroke works together to create the most gentle waves of color throughout the sky? Do you think a painting could ever embody a persona. . .? Do you think a brushstroke could ever embody love. . .? Can you imagine these feelings while having a photoshoot at the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
I’m starting this post with a few questions to make you stop and wonder—to put you in the mindset, if you will, before taking time to view the images shared below. Savannah and Charlie are just that, a pair of art historians in love, who move together like the paint strokes of a Van Gogh painting. It was an honor to capture this couple, full of laughter and energy, at the Minneapolis Institute of Art! You couldn’t ask for a more perfect photoshoot location for these two!
I got to know Savannah from our undergraduate studies at Coe College where we used to work together in the Art History/Art Department. Since our days at Coe, we’ve been able to keep in touch and meet up every now and then—and I’m so happy we’ve been able to do that. We even got to hang out together one morning in Berlin, Germany! Now, that was a highlight!
This was my first time meeting Charlie, and he was just a delight! Savannah and Charlie met in California in graduate school continuing their studies in Art History. I will say, it’s always a treat to spend time with others who are happy to talk all things art and photography! So . . . as you can imagine, we had a lot of fun trying some new things for this photoshoot, for the sake of the art of course! 😉
If you imagine having a Minneapolis Institute of Art engagement, couples photoshoot, or wedding–I would love to connect. It’s the perfect space to let your creative self free! Feel free to reach me here.
